See your motif repeat. Move the seams. Keep your layers.

Seamply is an iPad app that shows your Procreate drawing as a seamless repeat, sends the offset tile back as a layered PSD, and turns the pattern into finished images for posts and print.

Pattern of the day by @seamply.appTry it. In Preview, drag the pattern and switch repeats. In Offset, drag to move the seams: the tile snaps to the center and to the edges. In Export, pick a format and how many times the tile repeats across it.

Three gestures, one screen

  1. See your motif repeat

Paste your canvas straight from Copy All, or open a PSD from Files. The artwork fills the screen as a continuous repeat right away. Pinch and drag across it the way you would across a printed length of fabric.

  2. Move the seams

Switch between grid, half-drop and brick with one tap. Show the seams to see where the edges of your tile fall, hide them to judge the drawing. When a motif sits badly across a seam, move the seam rather than redrawing.

  3. Keep your layers

Send hands the offset tile back. A layered PSD stays layered: every layer shifted by the same amount, nothing flattened, nothing merged. Nothing is ever resampled: the pixels you bring in are the pixels that come out.

From tile to finished image

When the pattern is done, the Export tab turns it into a finished image. Choose how many times the tile repeats across, tilt it if you like, and share a JPEG, a PNG, or a layered PSD when your file has layers.

Why your layers matter

Most repeat tutorials start by flattening: merge everything, cut the canvas in four, swap the quarters. It works, but the layers are gone. You can no longer recolor a motif, nudge one element or hide the background.

Seamply shifts the whole PSD instead. Every layer moves by the same number of pixels, so the drawing looks exactly the same, and each layer is still editable when it comes back into Procreate.

This holds because an offset is the same for every layer: moving them all together changes where the edges fall, never how the layers combine. Blend modes, opacity and layer names come back as they were.

Three repeats, one tile

The same tile, repeated three ways. Seamply shows all three on your drawing, live, and you switch with one tap.

What it does not do

No drawing tools, no motif library, no AI generator, no subscription. No account to create and no tracking. The app works offline; only the pattern of the day and submitting a pattern need a connection. Your artwork stays on the iPad unless you submit a pattern, and then only a flat image leaves, never your PSD or its layers. The one thing the app sends on its own is anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off in Settings.

Questions

Do my Procreate layers survive?

Yes. Open a layered PSD and Send gives you back a PSD with every layer shifted by the same number of pixels. Nothing is flattened or merged, and blend modes stay as they were. Flat artwork comes back as a PNG.

How do I get my drawing from Procreate into Seamply?

The quickest way is Copy All in Procreate, then open Seamply: it picks up the copy. That copy is flat. To keep your layers, share a PSD from Procreate and open it in Seamply.

Can I make an Instagram post or a print sheet of my pattern?

Yes, in the Export tab. Pick a post, a story, a pin, a print sheet, a piece of fabric or any size, set how many repeats fit across and the angle, then share a JPEG or a PNG. If your file has layers, you can export a layered PSD too.

Does Seamply change my pixels?

No. The offset moves whole pixels: the file that comes back has exactly the same size and the same pixels, only rearranged. Seamply never scales or filters the tile it sends back. Only Export, which makes a new image at the size you choose, recalculates pixels.

How big can my canvas be?

Up to 16,384 px on a side, within what your iPad’s memory allows. If a file is too big, Seamply says so instead of crashing.

Which iPads does it run on? Do I need an account?

Any iPad with iPadOS 26 or later. There is no account to create. The app works offline and sends only anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off in Settings; nothing is used to track you. Only the pattern of the day and submitting a pattern need a connection, and submitting uses your iCloud account. The beta is free on TestFlight.

Who makes it

Seamply is made at Swindler & Swindler, an illustration studio. Margot draws her patterns in Procreate; Rémy Boiré builds the app. Every feature has to pass one test: Margot must understand it without reading anything.
